Troops
operating in the North-East have captured documents containing list and
sketches of communities and towns apparently slated for attack, from fleeing
terrorists in Adamawa.
This is
contained in a post on the website of the Defence Headquarters obtained on
Tuesday in Abuja.
It said
in two separate operations spanning Adamawa and Bauchi states, the troops also
killed 27 suspected terrorists during fierce confrontations in a bid to rid the
areas of insurgency.
“During a
hot pursuit of the terrorists around Hildi, Adamawa, at least seven of the
terrorists lost their lives.
“A total
of five rifles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition as well as bows and arrows
were captured from them.
“During
an operation conducted on Balmo and Lame forests linking Borno, Bauchi and
Adamawa states, the troops recovered rifles and a number of motorcycles, and
after resistance, the terrorists were crushed.
“Over 20
of the terrorists lost their lives while some were wounded.
“At the
end of the encounter, troops eventually took firm control of the forest,” the
post said.
It added
that the campaign against terrorists’ activities was continuing with air and
land operations being conducted in various theatres in parts of the
country.(NAN)
