The
Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party to appear
before it on December 19 to explain why the name of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume
should not be submitted as the governorship candidate of the party for the 2015
general elections.
Araraume
had through his counsel, Damien Dodo, SAN, prayed the court to restrain the PDP
from forwarding the name of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Chukwuemeka Ihedioha to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as
its governorship candidate for the 2015 governorship election for Imo State.
He urged
the court to declare that he was the authentic candidate of the PDP for the
impending poll.
Justice
Ahmed Mohammed gave the order after listening to a motion ex-parte by Dodo on Tuesday.
Dodo told
the court that his client duly obtained the expression of interest form and
nomination form to contest for the Imo State governorship primary election of
the PDP.
Though
Justice Mohammed declined to grant the ex-parte application, he directed
Ararume to go and put the defendants on notice to enable them to appear before
him.
