YOLA—ADAMAWA State would have
witnessed another crisis on Friday but for the quick intervention of the
Adamawa State Police Command, which quickly arrested two Police officers over
alleged murder of two Fulani youths in Toungo Local Government Area of the
state.
The two
policemen allegedly shot their victims over an argument on N50 bribe in front
of the local government headquarters at 5p.m.
Speaking
to journalists in Yola, the National Liaison Officer of Miyetti Allah, Malam
Sanusi Bara, said: “It would have been bloody if leaders of the group had not
pleaded seriously with the angry crowd.”
According
to Malam Sanusi, the names of the deceased are Jibo and Maikudi. He produced
some bullet shells he said were picked at the scene of the incident with number
BO80/811, NNY 1987.
Sanusi
said one of the deceased father, Dawa Musa, has now been left to cater for
Jibo’s two children and a woman which Maikudi was preparing to marry.
A similar
incident took place some weeks back when about 25 Fulani were said to have been
killed in Bali village of Demsa Local Government Area.
Tension
is rising in these areas as the Fulani are threatening retaliation should the
law not take its natural cause. The Police Spokesman, Othman Mohammed,
confirmed the report, adding that the team on patrol that caused the death of
the two men was led by an inspector.
